Karuna® Reiki:

The Embodiment of Compassionate Action
By Pamela Arwine

A swirl of exquisite pink light raced across the back lawn and flowed through the back porch screen, finding its way to me.   It slowly began to encircle me, creating delightful eddies of a warm light so soft, so sweet and loving in its essence, that it made me understand the true meaning of compassionate action.  I closed my eyes and slowly breathed in this deliciously rich essential light, opening myself to receive healing unconditional love. This was truly an energy of the heart. This was the energy of Harth.

We had agreed to meet in a space of consciousness every evening at 10pm.  We were to remotely send the energy of each of the Karuna symbols to each other for one week, getting to know and become intimate with each particular frequency.  The energy of each symbol had its own unique essence and personality.    Together they formed the system called Karuna Reiki.  The energy of compassionate action, love and mercy, Karuna is the next step along the Reiki healing ray.  Karuna is a Sanskrit word meaning any action taken to end the suffering of others. It is a feminine energy which blends beautifully with traditional Usui Reiki.  Karuna is a compilation of eleven symbols/energies collected by William Lee Rand and developed by him into an elegant healing system.

Karuna embodies the motivating quality of all enlightened beings who wish to extend healing and eliminate suffering.  Practitioners of Karuna are attuned to work more closely with these enlightened beings, most particularly Jesus Christ, Mother Mary, Kwan Yin, St. Germaine, Gautama Buddha, Mahakaruna Avalokiteschvara and the Archangels Michael, Rafael, Uriel and Gabriel.  Of course, these great compassionate and enlightened beings have always responded to our call and have always been willing to grace us with the presence of their light.  They are continually sending guidance and healing energy to us but, often, we are not very receptive.  What the Karuna attunements will do is enhance our capacity to receive these gifts of Spirit. It strengthens our awareness of and our connection to these Spiritual Masters.  Through working with Karuna Reiki, you not only help to heal others, you become more receptive to the energies which are all around you accelerating your own healing and enlightenment.

Karuna is typically taught in three levels… Practitioner I, Practitioner II and Master Level.

In Practitioner Level I, you are attuned to four symbols which focus on healing on a cellular level, healing past lives, relationships, physical, sexual or child abuse, unconscious patterns, shadow self, addictions, dispelling psychic/psychological attack, developing good habits and compassionate action, clearing the mind, contacting spiritual beings, clearing rooms, harmonizing chakras and manifesting goals.

"This (Karuna Reiki) could go on for weeks.  I was impressed by how much we covered thoroughly…a remarkable synthesis of spiritual and healing lineages.  This class pulled together so many pieces/elements for me and built them into something greater.”

In Practitioner Level II, the symbols focus on connecting higher self with lower self, improving learning ability, healing the human race, co--dependence, reality awareness, healing the heart, insomnia, fear, panic, communication, increasing creativity and clairvoyance, grounding, manifesting goals, creating trust and priorities, claiming your power, empowering goals, bringing in peace and manifesting best results.

In the Master Level, you are introduced to the master symbols which focus on enhancing the energy of all other symbols, empowering the hands for treatments and attunements, purifying, protecting, sealing and stabilizing the aura, opening the crown chakra creating a pathway to God and higher consciousness, and doing attunements which align the chakras and energy bodies.

Karuna Reiki is a joyful gift of light from the Masters, the gift of compassionate action.
